Maternity Comfort | Prosthetic & Orthotic Solutions Skip to content

Let the excitement of your new arrival be the focus of your pregnancy, not discomfort! Prosthetic & Orthotic Solutions offers medical-grade support and compression garments to keep your back, legs, and abdomen comfortable throughout your pregnancy.

By choosing Prosthetic & Orthotic Solutions for your maternity needs, you will have access to superior products and guidance from trained professionals. We will fit you for the correct size and teach you how to position your garment properly. You may not be used to the tightness of a compression garment, or you may feel unsure of how much to adjust your brace to accommodate your growing belly. The opportunity to review and practice correct placement with a skilled provider will help you wear your support or compression garment with confidence.

We are here to assist you with any questions you may have, and this includes the insurance process. It is important for you to know that insurance may cover the cost of maternity support and compression garments when accompanied by a doctor’s order. We accept all forms of MA and CT Medicaid as well as most major insurance plans. (Please see below each featured product for information about insurance requirements.)

Prosthetic & Orthotic Solutions is committed to selecting only the most durable, comfortable products. Our maternity products featured below provide safe, effective relief for expectant mothers.

Mother-To-Be® Maternity Support

This brace provides instant support by scooping under your belly and transferring the weight of your baby correctly to your spine. Your abdomen is lifted and supported. Back pain, pelvic pressure, and muscle and ligament strain are reduced, while leg circulation is increased. Pressure on the sciatic nerve, common during pregnancy, is relieved within minutes. Using a heat molded back insert, we create a customized fit by matching it to the unique shape of your back. Velcro straps allow for growth so one brace can be utilized throughout your pregnancy.

Insurance: Typically, a prescription is all that is required for Mother-to-Be® lower back braces.

The following insurance companies also require a letter of medical necessity:

  • Tufts Medicaid Plans (formally Network Health)
  • Always Health Partners (formally Neighborhood Health Plan)
  • Cigna
  • GIC/Unicare

Compression Stockings

During pregnancy, increased blood volume, hormonal changes, and weight gain add stress to the venous system and can cause the appearance of varicose veins and swelling of the legs, ankles, and feet. Graduated compression stockings counteract these conditions by pushing fluid back up so it does not accumulate in the lower legs.

If you are experiencing signs of venous insufficiency, compression therapy can significantly reduce your symptoms. Combined with appropriate exercise, proper hydration, elevation of legs when swollen, and avoidance of long periods of sitting and standing, compression garments will help you stay active and comfortable. Soft, opaque materials offer all-day comfort and are designed to expand with you as your baby grows.

The health professional managing your maternity care will provide you with a prescription for the amount of compression that is best for you. Prosthetic & Orthotic Solutions offers prescription quality maternity stockings for 20-30 mmhg, 30-40 mmhg, and 40-50 mmhg compression levels. We do not stock lower compression levels, as they are not covered by insurance.
